Alegre Valgañon make gorgeous, sculpted Rioja from the cool north-west of the region, using exceptional sites with old vines - often field blends - and minimal oak influence. All the wines are made outside of the Crianza-Reserva-Gran Reserva ageing system, aiming to highlight these local styles and exceptional individual sites.
It doesn`t come from a manual. It comes from a hillside that looks in every direction and refuses to be tamed. Half of it is centuries old, the other half learned quickly. Tempranillo, white, red… all together, as it was born.
It macerates long, without haste or filters. It made itself, in open oak, without corrections or cuts. It doesn`t seek to resemble. It seeks to remain. Bahierra. 845 meters of contradiction and beauty.
