Paulus Wine Co. Bosberaad Swartland Chenin Blanc 2023

Paulus Wine Co. currently work with two Chenin Blanc vineyards in the Swartland and Stellenbosch. Their ‘Bosberaad’ Chenin Blanc is sourced from the Siebritskloof Valley in the Paardeberg, on the southern border of the Swartland. These old dryland bush vines were planted in 1980 and produce low yields of intensely concentrated fruit. Located on an east-facing ridge, the site benefits from afternoon shade and its decomposed granite soils result in excellent balance and freshness in the final wine. Vivid aromas of honeysuckle, white stone fruits and lemon peel emerge on the nose. The palate deftly balances delicacy and power, with waxy texture and bright acidity framing concentrated notes of apple skin, papaya and quince. The finish is layered and complex.
